本影片基于一个真实的故事改编。第二次世界大战期间，前希腊奥林匹克拳击手Arouch作为一个战俘，被关押在奥斯威辛集中营内。在那里，他被做为娱乐的对象，要与一些犯人进行拳击比赛，如果他拒绝，他的家人将受到惩罚，如果他赢了，他会得到些额外的口粮，可以与家人分享|如果他输了，他将被送到毒气室。为了使他的家人和朋友免于进毒气室，Allegra只有违心的去与犯人们进行比赛...。One day, thinking that it will make your wife and friends smile, you shave off the moustache that you have had for the last ten years. Viewers who like their conclusions tidy may rebel, but those who relish outstanding performances in the service of an intriguing idea will be entertained.
